This exibits is part of LACMA's ongoing exhibition

Your Bright Future presenting works of contemporary

Korean artists. All the materials were bought by the artist in

the 99cent store 2 blocks away from the museum.

I doubt the sustainability of this project,

but it sure pleases the eye and the heart.

The exhibit has a continuation in the back of the museum

where visitors can leave bright plastic items of their own.

I was eager to participate. The only bright thing

I found in my bag and didn't mind to part with

was a toothbrush. Later that night I could not fall asleep.

I imagined the toothbrush in the dark, the wind blowing. How did it feel to hang there among objects brought by strangers?

10 minutes of such meditating and I was out.

I would have never guessed that such a place exists in Los Angeles. A few blocks away from my house there's a little secluded mansion. Inside live a very diverse group of people who share several things in common. They live from nature and are self-sustainable. They actively care about the environment and their community. They grow their own food, recycle and compost, use alternative means of transportation. Echo villagers also share resourses such as bikes, books, computers and food.

Dustin Lance Black

Dustin Lance Black upon receiving a nominal award at UCLA. Have not watched MILK yet, but it was exciting to see Dustin live and hear him talk. After many thanks and a personal confession he young man lamented not having received a single distinction while being UCLA student. He also suggested substituting the present award for a scholarship to fund his new project.
